Who is Josh Sherman?
I am many things to many people (and animals). I'm a one-term husband, riding out the reign as long as she'll let me. I'm also the proud father of a adult-aged daughter. Two pugs and quite a few Sea-Monkeys consider me quite capable at feeding them.
By trade, I'm a software engineer. Before you ask, no I didn't go to college for that. Starting in technical support, I've climbed up and down the ladder, occasionally jumping off completely.
Decades later, I'm still not sure what I want to do when I grow up.
Hobbies?
I used to say that when I wasn't coding, I was probably coding. While this is still true, COVID-19 pandemic was a time when I started to revisit some of my old hobbies, while exploring new ones.
My current hobbies, in no particular order, include: playing video games, making music, collecting trading cards and comics, occasionally shooting hoops, and even less frequently these days, bass fishing (notice I didn't say catching bass).
There's also "consumption" that I'm not sure I'd consider hobbies, but includes: reading / listening to audio books, watching TV and movies (usually about vampires), and some sporty sports like watching Angels baseball and keeping up with WWE (it's not fake, you're fake).
Where's Josho?
Originally from Tampa, Florida, we got sick of trying to clean sand out of flip flops and moved to the formerly weird city of Austin, Texas.
We're here for a few extra minutes as our daughter attends college, but we are on the prowl for the next city to move to and subsequently ruin.
Socials
I remember a simpler time, when social media was still known as social networking. I also remember being called a racist because I didn't vote for Barack Obama, and had a differing opinion than somebody I went to high school with on Facebook.
Obama's still the coolest of all the presidents (sorry Bill), he just wasn't my pick. I lied, W taking up painting is pretty cool, water sign vibes and all.
Around that time I decided that I miss the good ol' days when Internet access was this rare privilege, and not this troll box that gave everybody an audience to spew in the general direction of.
While I love that we're globally connected, the whole idea of social media doesn't appeal to me. I choose keep up with my people via messaging platforms, and not algorithmic news feed.
I do have some accounts out there, but for the most part, I maintain a very small social footprint. While I don't have much to hide, I definitely prefer to hide from the idiot mob.
